Mangalore: Feb 19 (IST 10.00): In a grand manner the Cordel unit of Catholic Sabha Mangalore celebrated its decennial year on Sunday February 19, 2006. The four-hour long programme was held at St Joseph’s High School grounds Kulshekar between 6 pm and 10 pm.

In a distinct manner the unit organized the inaugural of the celebrations by inviting the chief guest industrialist and producer of Padri film Raymond Quadros to break a huge mud pot on the stage. A banner flew open as soon as the pot shattered into pieces and a lantern was lowered from the top of the centre stage. Speaking on the occasion, Quadros expressed his gratitude to the people of Kulshekar for patronizing his film.

He also urged the support of the community in his future endevours. Another chief guest member of Zilla Panchayat DK district Victoria D’Cunha also spoke on the occasion.

Spiritual director of the unit Fr Gregory William Vas presided over the programme.

Founder president of the unit M P Noronha, president Vincent Cutinha, secretary Leena D’Souza and convener Denis D’Silva were present on the stage.

A musical evening spiced with dances was put up with the accompaniment music by Waves music troupe followed by ‘Tamaso’, a humourous skit directed by Benna Ruzai.
