Two TDP members suspended from Rajya Sabha

New Delhi, Aug 26 (IANS): Two Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members who have been protesting against Andhra Pradesh's proposed division were suspended from the Rajya Sabha Monday for disrupting the house proceedings.

Rajya Sabha deputy chairperson P.J. Kurien suspended C.M. Ramesh and Y.S. Chaudhary for the day.

Kurien acted after both MPs came near the chairperson's podium holding placards and shouting slogans "Save Andhra Pradesh" and "We need justice".

The members have been protesting since the house met Aug 5, demanding a statement from the government on the issue.

When the house met post-lunch, Kurien gave permission to Chowdhury to speak on the issue on the condition that they won't disrupt the proceedings of the house any more.

Both the members, however, continued protesting following which the members were suspended.

TDP is protesting against the central government's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh for the formation of Telangana.
