Beltangady, Feb 8: Maurice Pinto, a resident of Nada village near here, who had been accused of stabbing his aged mother to death a couple of years ago, died in Bowring Hospital at Bangalore on Tuesday February 7.
Maurice had murdered his mother Lucy Pinto over a property dispute two years ago. After killing his mother, he had even stabbed his sister before the police had arrested him.
The Beltangady police had arrested him and had filed a charge sheet against him in connection with the case. He was in Mangalore jail all these days. However, he was recently shifted to Bowring Hospital in Bangalore after he complained of ill health.
But he died in the hospital on Tuesday. His last rites will be conducted in Bangalore itself by the jail authorities and the government will bear the expenses.
