  • B Nanjamma Chinnappa from Kodagu also to be honoured with a doctorate

Mangalore, Feb 7: Noted folklore scholar and senior author-researcher Prof Amrit Someshwar and retired Supreme Court judge Justice Santosh Hegde have been selected for the honorary doctorate by the Mangalore University.  Along with them B Nanjamma Chinnappa of Kodagu, well-known statistician too will be awarded a doctorate.

Prof Amrit Someshwar has carved a niche for himself both as a writer and folklore scholar.  He is being hailed for clarity of thoughts, which are so expressive and fearless both in his writings and words.

Justice Nitte Santosh Hegde, son of former SC judge and Lok Sabha speaker the late Kowdoor Sadananda Hegde,  has climbed the heights in the field of law and social justice, which a very few from this part of the country have ever scaled.  He was the solicitor general of India and retired last year as the Supreme Court judge.

Statistician Nanjamma Chinnappa has rendered her services in prestigious institutions such as International Association of Survey Statistics (IASS) and International Statistics Institution (IST).

The honour will be conferred on them during the 24th Convocation of Mangalore University to be held on Saturday February 11.
