Mangalore, Feb 6: In another road crush, a teenager was knocked down to death by a lorry on the National Highway 48 at Kannur near here on Monday February 6.

The deceased has been identified as Qalander (18), son of Abdul Rahiman, a resident of Boliyar near Bantwal. He was walking along to Boliyar with his father on Monday morning, when a sand-laden lorry hit him.  As a result he fell on the road.  However, he was crushed under the front wheels of the same lorry before he could recover.  He died on the spot in front of his father's eyes.

The cause of the accident was the reckless driving of the lorry driver who has now been arrested.  Qalander's father Abdul Rahiman has filed a case against the lorry driver in the Mangalore rural police station.
