Mangalore Feb 5:  The victim of the recent Ichlampady rape, a minor Dalit girl, has been reported missing along with her family. The case took a new twist when there was no trace of the girl and her family.

The vanishing act came to light when the Uppinangady police who had registered the case against the accused Srinivas Poojary and Prabhakar Shetty visited the victim's house to take her for a medical examination. It was then that the police realized that the family was missing and even their neighbours had no insight of their whereabouts.

A team, which was sent to their village in Nelamangala returned without tracing them, informed the Puttur division assistant superintendent of police. The rape of the VII std girl had hit the headlines following which several Dalit organizations reacted to the episode demanding justice.

The issue which also was discussed at the Dalits grievances meeting held in the police guest house in Mangalore had decided to register a case against  Srinivas  Poojary and Prabhakar Shetty.
