Bangalore, Feb 3: In a suspected murder, two sisters, Nidhisha (8) and four-year-old Sundari were pushed into a well in Yelahanka New Town police station limits, allegedly by their father.

Although the incident is said to have taken place on Tuesday, the bodies surfaced only on Thursday night.

Quarrel

It is learnt that the victims' parents recently quarrelled, following which their mother had left the house.

Upset by this, the girls' father Sundaramani is said to have taken to heavy drinking.

The police suspect that he might have committed the crime.

Bricks were tied to the girls' necks before they were pushed into the well.

The intention was to keep the bodies underwater, the police said.

The family was based in Attur Layout and was originally from Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

The Yelahanka New Town police have taken up a case and are now looking out for Sundaramani, the police said.

The bodies were sent for postmortem.
