Mangalore, Feb 3: Climbing the ladder of success each month, the Navodaya Self Help Groups (SHGs) have now planned a mega conclave on February 25 and 26 at the Swaraj Maidan in Karkala under the aegis of Navodaya Grama Vikas Charitable Trust.

Briefing the press persons here on Thursday, Karnataka State Co-operative Apex Bank Ltd president and Navodaya Gram Vikas Charitable Trust managing trustee M N Rajendra Kumar said that the Navodaya SHG scheme had completed six years and was successful in creating a silent revolution in the rural areas.

The conclave aims to commemorate this achievement and is also an attempt to enhance the self-confidence among the members. Over 1 lac women SHG members will be participating in the event which is expected to gather a crowd of more than 2 lac SHG members. The trust aims at providing a new platform for the empowerment of SHGs at the State-level Rajendra said.

Union and State ministers, MPs and MLAs will be present at the conclave, which will have seminars on co-operation, agriculture, SHGs and planning. An exhibition-cum-sale of products manufactured by SHGs members and farming equipments will also be a part of the event.

Navavikasa, the souvenir of the SHGs, will also be released, he said.
