Mangalore, Jan 29: Former High Court chief justice M F Saldanha cautioned about the fact that the rapid increase in the number of illegal buildings and concentration of commercial complexes in the City without following the building by-laws will result in a great danger in the future.

Speaking to reporters at a press meet in City on Saturday, he said that different aspects of nature including temperature, wind and ground-water patterns have already witnessed considerable changes with regard to Mangalore and the present trend is in fact alarming the future tragedy of the City which has already been considered as an earthquake prone area.

"Before going on centralizing mega complexes we should think whether we have enough infrastructure to fulfil their requirements. It is really impossible to provide facilities like sufficient water, drainage system and proper road to adjust with the congested city pattern," he explained.
