Mangalore, Jan 28: A national seminar on ‘Accounting Practices – An Interactive Dialogue with Professionals’, was jointly organized by the Faculty of Commerce at St Aloysius College and Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) here on Friday January 27.

Speaking on the occasion, N Vinay Hegde, president, Nitte Education Trust, said that it was not possible to run a commercial organization without good accounting practitioners adhering to the standards fixed by the ICAI.  He said institutions should have academic autonomy as it will help in preparing courses required for the current scenario. An outdated system produces outdated students, he said, adding that every teacher should work in a contemporary area for some time to update his or her knowledge.

Prof Narahari, dean, commerce faculty, in his welcome speech said that it was for the first time that teachers and professionals had come together to interact effectively for the purpose of restructuring commerce education.
