Darsheel feels lucky to be in 'Midnight's Children'

Mumbai, Feb 2 (IANS): Actor Darsheel Safary, who has portrayed the role of junior Saleem Sinai in Deepa Mehta's "Midnight's Children", says he feels lucky for being a part of such a big movie.

"I have come a long way from 'Taare Zameen Par' and it was like a stepping stone in my life. I feel so lucky that finally there is some big movie that I have done," the 16-year-old said here Friday at the premiere of "Midnight's Children."

"But I am also a little bit nervous because suddenly it came up in the middle of nothing and I am feeling very happy," he added.

Darsheel admits he is still not very familiar with the film's script, and that is why he was very "curious" to watch the movie.

The movie is a big screen adaptation of Salman Rushdie's Booker Prize winning novel of the same name.

Talking about his experience while working with director Deepa Mehta, Darsheel said: "I was almost like an assistant on the sets helping her set up things."

"Whatever she wanted, I used to help her and she also used to help me. Even in my studies she was very supportive. It was fun working with her and I am looking forward to working with her again," he added.

"Midnight's Children", which released Friday, also features Rajat Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Anupam Kher, Ronit Roy, Satya Bhabha, Seema Biswas, Shahana Goswami, Siddharth, Anita Majumdar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Soha Ali Khan and Shriya Saran.
