Richardson replaced in Australian Prime Minister's XI

Melbourne, Jan 26 (IANS): South Australian Kane Richardson was withdrawn from the Prime Minister's XI squad that takes on West Indies in a practise game here Monday.

Queenslander Alister McDermott will replace Richardson in the squad, said a Cricket Australia (CA) release Monday.

Richardson will instead remain in South Australia to do technical work on his bowling run up following his debut for Australia in the series against Sri Lanka.

McDermott, son of former Australian fast bowler Craig McDermott, has performed strongly for the XXXX Gold Queensland Bulls and Brisbane Heat this season.

McDermott currently has 11 wickets at an average of 23.72 in the Bupa Sheffield Shield and he snared 10 wickets at an average of 17.30 in the Twenty20 Big Bash League (BBL).

The Prime Minister's XI play the West Indies at the Manuka Oval here before the five-match One-Day International (ODI) between the Windies and Australia that starts Feb 1.
