Dortmund Upset, Bayern Win at Bundesliga

Berlin, Sep 23 (IANS): Hamburg SV ended Borussia Dortmund's 31-game unbeaten run after a 3-2 win owing to a brace by Heung Min Son while Bayern Munich cruised to a 2-0 win over Schalke at the fourth round of German football league Bundesliga.

Hamburg finished their negative run of three losses after stunning performance against defending champions Borussia Dortmund at an outsold Imtech Arena Saturday, reported Xinhua.

Hamburg opened the scoring with the first attack as Rafael van der Vaart saw Heung Min Son inside penalty nodding home his cross. The early deficit was a clarion call for defending champions Dortmund that pressed for the leveller but the host staged a well-positioned defence to give the visitors a hard fight.

Twenty-five seconds were played in the second half when Dortmund's striker Ivan Perisic equalised the scoring following a cross that ended up in the far corner to beat goalkeeper Rene Adler.

The Red Shorts remained unfazed by Dortmund's equaliser and answered with the 2-1 lead at the 55th minute through Ivo Ilicevic who utilised an assist by van der Vaart to score with a well-placed shot into the near corner.

Heung Min Son sealed his brace when he extended Hamburg's lead with a shot from 21 metres into top left.

Twenty seconds later Dortmund's Ivan Perisic scored his second of the day to reduce the score to 3-2 in a see-saw match.

However, Dortmund frenetically pressed for the equaliser but Hamburg was able to kill the clock.

Meanwhile, German record champions Bayern Munich sealed the fourth win at the fourth match against Schalke to regain first position in the standings.

The Bavarians dominated the first half against passive Royal Blues at the outsold Veltins Arena.

With 55 minutes into the match, Bayern's Toni Kroos slotted home from 14 metres inside left to give his side the lead.

The record champions were not done with the scoring when Thomas Mueller sent another one into the net to seal the deal ahead of time.

Elsewhere, Wolfsburg shared points with newly promoted Greuther Fuerth following a 1-1 draw. Mainz defeated Augsburg 2-0 and newly promoted Dusseldorf played goalless draw with Freiburg.
