Doha: Host Team Lifts Pallonji Qatar 2012 Cricket Cup

Doha, May 14:  M Pallonji Qatar, a Mangalorean team led by energetic Neeraj, lifted the 'Pallonji Cup 2012’ cricket tournament, organized by general manager of Pallonji Qatar Chidanada Naik by defeating Lagaan with a considerable margin of 15 runs at the Old Ideal Indian School grounds, here on Thursday May 10.

M Pallonji won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 107 for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 12 overs. Hakeem scored 57 runs in 29 balls. Lagaan managed to score only 92 runs in 12 overs in the chase. Kurram and Boota scored 26 and 36 respectively. Hakeem of Pallonji was declared the man of the match for his magnificent batting.
































































The man of the series was bagged by Shailesh Kanchan for his all round performance throughout the tournament. The best bowler was Owais of Lagaan and best batsman was Imran of HANNAN X1.

The winners received Pallonji Trophy and 6, 000 Qatar Riyal cash and the runners up received 3, 000 Qatar Riyal cash and a trophy. The fair play award went to Bangladesh Warriors.

In all, 6 teams participated in the knock out tournament of 10 overs each.

For the closing ceremony, J Chidananda Naik general manager of Pallonji-Qatar and Asha Chidananda Naik, Master Thushar Naik and Pooja Naik, Sharath Kumar Reddy contract manager of Pallonji-Qatar, Abdulla Monu, president of SKMWA, Saleem Kaiser member of Qatar veteran’s Cricket club were present on the dais.

The lucky prizes like LCD, Flat TV, Sony DVD, mixer grinder, table fan and emergency Light were given out to the spectators. More than 100 people witnessed the final match.
