Mumbai, Oct 16: An 18-month-old toddler died after allegedly being thrown from the sixth floor of a residential building by a 10-year-old girl in Mumbai’s Goregaon on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at around 9 pm at the Shivshahi building and was captured on CCTV cameras. According to a police official, the footage shows the minor girl allegedly picking up the toddler and throwing the child from the sixth floor before running away along the corridor. She was later seen riding a bicycle on the same floor.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and initiated an investigation. The Dindoshi Police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR), and the toddler’s body was sent for post-mortem examination.

The minor girl was detained, while her mother was taken into custody, police said.

According to officials, the toddler’s family had moved into the building on October 1. The family alleged that there had been previous disputes between the two families over a cat, although the exact nature of the disagreement remains unclear.

Sources also claimed that the 10-year-old girl had been experiencing mental health issues. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

The toddler’s family has demanded strict action and justice. They also alleged that the girl’s family had switched off CCTV cameras in an attempt to conceal the incident, police said.
