The electricity dept. has an obligation to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation immediately. All linemen work should be suspended until it can be confirmed that similar hazards are not present elsewhere. The public have a right to view the investigation report, findings, and corrective and preventive actions to prevent a recurrence, The State Government has a duty to enforce the safety regulations of the electricity dept., and hold those responsible to account. In this day and age, there is zero reason for a lineman to get electrocuted and die. Training, personal protective equipment, safety procedures, safe work controls like energy isolation, lockout and tag out, and good work planning and communication can prevent such incidents.

These type of deaths occur at regular intervals; no doubt the power utility supplier is one of the worst in the country; their linemen don't even get basic safety equipments like gloves, safety boots, etc before touching electric equipment for maintenance!

Firstly a compensation of Rs 2 crores must be given to the legal heirs. We in India have a very casual approach to safety and human life and limb. Where i worked the system implemented is called LOTO lock 🔐 out tag out. Where any from of power is involved. The switch is locked in off possession and a key with the working person... at times a switch may 6 to 7 locks. Not a single accident in 35 years i worked! Very simple and low cost system and easy to implement!!!
