Bengaluru, Sep 30: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and 10 other districts across the state over the next two days.

A yellow alert has been issued for Wednesday, September 30, and Thursday, October 1, covering 12 districts across the coastal, Malnad, and south interior regions of Karnataka.

Isolated places in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are likely to experience heavy downpours with thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Uttara Kannada district is expected to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.

In south interior Karnataka, thunderstorms are predicted over the next two days in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Davanagere, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Hassan, and Tumakuru districts. Conversely, dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of north interior Karnataka.

For Bengaluru city and its surrounding areas, the weather department has predicted a generally cloudy sky for the next 48 hours. The city may witness heavy rainfall in isolated areas and light to moderate showers in others, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph.
