Mangaluru, Sep 29: A series accident involving a car, goods auto and two-wheeler occurred near Karangalpady while taking a turn towards Court Road on Tuesday September 29.

Goods auto-rickshaw driver Chandra K (67), from Peral Mogral in Kasargod, who was seriously injured in the accident and undergoing treatment at a hospital, succumbed to his injuries. Two-wheeler rider Flavian Mervin was also injured.

A case has been registered at Kadri Traffic police station based on a complaint filed by Judge Vinay D, who was driving the car.

According to the complaint, the judge was travelling from Hat Hill and was turning towards Court Road in front of Radha Medical at Karangalpady to proceed to the District Court complex at Bautagudda on duty. At the same time, the goods auto, which was coming downhill from the opposite direction, reportedly went out of the driver's control, collided with the right side of the car and overturned. It also collided with the two-wheeler. As a result, the auto driver and the two-wheeler rider were injured, the complaint stated.

The car, tempo and two-wheeler were damaged in the accident. The judge also reportedly sustained minor injuries.

The front portion of the goods auto was completely mangled due to the impact of the accident. Chandra was trapped inside the cabin of the auto. Local residents rescued him and shifted him to a hospital in an ambulance. However, he died despite treatment.

The road leading to the court has virtually become a parking area from Karangalpady Cross to K S Rao Road, causing inconvenience to other vehicles travelling on the road. As there is insufficient parking space on the court premises, vehicles are parked along the roadside. Public members have also alleged that some people park their vehicles here and proceed to other places.
