Karkala, Aug 26: Marking 114 years of dedicated service since its establishment in 1912, MCC Bank Ltd shifted its Karkala branch to the new own premises at ground floor, Fortune Orchid, Salmara Road, on Wednesday, August 26.
The new branch premises was inaugurated by Sahakara Ratna Anil Lobo, chairman of MCC Bank Ltd. Muniyalu Udaya Kumar Shetty inaugurated the safe room and Fr Robin Santhumayor, assistant parish priest of St Lawrence Minor Basilica, Attur, blessed the new premises of the branch.
The programme was presided over by chairman Sahakara Ratna Anil Lobo. Muniyalu Udaya Kumar Shetty, president, Udaya Krishnayya Charitable Trust, attended as the chief guest.
Guests of honour included John Dsilva, founder chairman, Model Co-Operative Bank Ltd, Lance Lord Jossy Lobo, retired Danway Mechanical and Engineering UAE, Sheikh Abdul Sharief, advocate. Vice chairman Jerald Jude D'Silva, general manager Sunil Menezes and branch manager Rohan Joy Pinto were also present on the dais.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration of MCC Bank’s own premises at the Karkala branch, chairman Anil Lobo welcomed the dignitaries, directors, staff, customers, and well-wishers. He expressed his gratitude to the people of Karkala for their continued trust and support, which he said had been instrumental in the Bank’s growth.
Recalling the establishment of the Karkala Branch 24 years ago, Lobo said the new premises marked an important milestone in the Bank’s journey. He noted that the branch’s business had grown from around Rs 20 crore in 2018 to Rs 56 crore within seven years, attributing this progress to the collective efforts of the management, employees, customers, and the local community.
He highlighted MCC Bank’s commitment to customer-friendly service and said the Bank’s branches strive to provide customers with personal attention, a welcoming atmosphere, and service with a smile. He emphasised that the Bank’s philosophy is rooted in humanity and service to others.
Lobo also spoke about MCC Bank’s role beyond conventional banking. He said the Bank regularly recognises talented individuals in the community and extends financial assistance to people in need through its charity initiatives. He stressed that when an institution grows, its benefits should reach and contribute to the wider society.
Speaking about the Bank’s future, he said the management was committed to further expanding its branch network, strengthening its business, and acquiring suitable premises to provide better facilities to customers. He called upon the people of Karkala to support the branch by introducing new customers and increasing its business and profitability.
Lobo expressed his appreciation to vice-president Gerald Jude D'Silva and all those who contributed to the establishment of the new premises and the successful conduct of the programme. He concluded by thanking the people of Karkala, customers, staff, and all the well-wishers for their enthusiastic participation and continued support.
Fr Robin Santhumayor congratulated the Bank on the relocation of its Karkala branch to its new premises, describing the new location as a fresh opportunity to better serve the people of Karkala. He remarked that a bank is a place where the dreams of students, agriculturists, entrepreneurs, and families are transformed into reality through timely financial support. He urged the Bank’s officials and staff to serve customers with dedication, compassion, and a welcoming smile.
Speaking about the Bank’s Founders Branch at Mangaluru, Fr Robin highlighted the institution’s remarkable journey and its long standing contribution to society through its wide range of banking services and customer-centric initiatives. He emphasised that financial institutions play a vital role in promoting economic growth and social development by supporting individuals, businesses, and communities.
He encouraged the people of Karkala to make full use of the banking facilities available to them and acknowledged the Bank’s significant contribution to the financial well-being and prosperity of the region.
Stressing the importance of accessible, reliable, and efficient banking services, he exp essed confidence that the new branch would emerge as a key centre for serving the people of Karkala and the surrounding areas.
Concluding his address, Fr Robin offered prayers and invoked god's blessings for the continued success, growth, and prosperity of the new branch, expressing his hope that it would remain a trusted partner in the progress and development of the community.

He commended the management, Board of Directors, and members for their dedication, determination, and collective efforts in transforming the institution’s aspirations into reality.
Shetty emphasised the significant role played by the Catholic community in the progress and development of the nation, acknowledging its contributions in the fields of education, healthcare, social service, and economic development.
Highlighting the Bank’s contribution to the development of Tulu Nadu, he remarked that the institution had become an important catalyst for the region’s economic and social progress through its customer-oriented banking services. He observed that the Bank’s sustained growth was the result of prudent administration, sound leadership, and the unwavering trust and support of its members, customers, and well-wishers.
Uday Kumar Shetty also praised chairman Anil Lobo for his visionary leadership and effective administrative abilities. He appreciated the chairman’s commitment in guiding the Bank’s growth and overseeing the successful development of its infrastructure, including the new branch premises. He further acknowledged the support and encouragement extended by various Catholic organisations towards the Bank, recognising their role in strengthening the institution’s mission of serving the community.
Concluding his address, Shetty underscored the importance of unity, cooperation, and collective responsibility in building strong institutions that contribute meaningfully to the welfare and prosperity of society.
Chief guest John D'Silva congratulated MCC Bank on the inauguration of its new premises of Karkala branch and wished the Bank continued success. He assured the management of his wholehearted support for its future growth. He emphasised the Bank's role in promoting self-employment by providing financial assistance, particularly at a time when job opportunities are limited.
He also encouraged the people of Karkala to make effective use of the banking facilities offered by MCC Bank for their financial growth and prosperity.
As part of its community engagement initiative, MCC Bank honoured customers of the Karkala Branch who excelled in the SSLC, PUC, higher education examinations and achievers. The Bank also felicitated Shiney Ashma Saldanha, the first female commercial pilot in recognition of her achievement. Individuals who played a key role in the establishment of the Karkala Branch in the year 2022 were also honoured.
In addition, customers celebrating their milestone birthdays were felicitated as a gesture of appreciation and goodwill.
On behalf of the owners of the new premises, Denis Pereira, one of the partners of Fortune Promoters, was honoured in recognition of the contribution and support extended by all the partners.

Jerald Jude D'Silva, vice chairman, welcomed the gathering. Mementos were presented to the chief guest and guests of honour as token of appreciation.
The event featured the Bank Anthem, a prayer song by staff members, and a documentary highlighting MCC Bank's history and achievements.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rohan J Pinto, branch manager of Karkala branch, while Elson Hirgan compered the programme.
