New Delhi, Aug 23: International passengers flying overseas from India will no longer need to present a paper boarding pass or get it stamped at airport immigration counters from September 1, in a move aimed at making the immigration process faster and more convenient.
The change will be implemented at all international airports across the country, according to the Bureau of Immigration, which has informed airport operators, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and other stakeholder agencies about the new procedure.

Under the existing system, international passengers are required to present their boarding passes at immigration counters and have them stamped. However, the stamps can often be unclear, making the details difficult to read. The practice will therefore be discontinued completely from September.
Passengers will instead be able to complete immigration formalities by showing their e-boarding passes on their mobile phones.
Those who prefer paper boarding passes will not be affected by the change and can continue to use them. However, they will no longer receive a stamp at the immigration counter.
The new system will come into force across all international airports in India from September 1, removing an additional paper-based step from the international travel process.
