Mangaluru, Aug 19: The Youth Red Cross (YRC) Unit of Milagres College, in association with the NCC, NSS, and Rangers and Rovers, organised a first aid training programme on August 14 in the college auditorium for students, with the objective of equipping them with essential knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively during emergency situations. The programme highlighted the importance of first aid and the immediate measures to be taken to assist individuals in distress.
The training programme was conducted by Dr Hilda Shanthini S, associate professor, department of anaesthesiology, Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, and Dr Jessica Abraham, senior resident, department of anaesthesiology, Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru.




They provided students with practical and valuable training in first-aid procedures and explained the appropriate measures to be taken during emergencies such as accidents, injuries, fainting, and breathing difficulties. They emphasised that timely and appropriate first aid can play a crucial role in saving lives.
Presiding over the programme, Dr Alwin Serrao, principal of Milagres College, said that the training programme played a significant role in developing students’ confidence and preparedness to respond to emergency situations. He also emphasised the importance of fostering a spirit of humanitarian service among students.
Glancia Fernandes, vice-principal, Chethana Kumari, IQAC coordinator, and members of the teaching faculty were present on the occasion.
The programme was compered by student Greeshma. Lenisha Peris, Rangers & Rovers leader, delivered the welcome address, while Shaila Moras, Youth Red Cross programme officer, proposed the vote of thanks.
