Bantwal, Aug 19: The body of a 38-year-old man was found near an electricity transformer at Tantribettu in Kariyangala village on August 17. It is currently suspected that he died due to electrocution, though this will be confirmed after the laboratory report.

The deceased has been identified as Harish T (38), a resident of Tantribettu in Kariyangala village and an electrician by profession. He was unmarried.

Harish had gone to work as usual on August 16 and returned home at around 8 pm. After having dinner, he went to bed. When his family members woke up on August 17, they found that he was not at home. While they were wondering where he had gone, a person named Purushotham called the family at around 7.30 am and informed them that he had heard a loud sound near the transformer at Tantribettu and that there had been an electricity problem.

He also informed them that when he went to the spot, he found Harish’s motorcycle and that Harish was lying near the transformer.

The family immediately rushed to the spot and found Harish lying beneath the transformer. Upon checking, they found that he had died.

It is currently suspected that Harish had gone to the transformer sometime between 6.30 am and 7.30 am and may have died after coming into contact with electricity.

The reason why he went near the transformer remains a mystery.

Based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother, Dinesh, a case has been registered at Bantwal Rural police station, and an investigation is underway.
