Panaji, Aug 16: Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade is set to be elected unopposed as president of the Goa Olympic Association (GOA) after emerging as the sole candidate to file his nomination for the top post.
According to the election schedule issued by returning officer Adv Vithal Naik, candidates were allowed to submit their nominations between 11 am and 4 pm on Saturday. Following scrutiny of the nominations, the final list of candidates will be announced on Monday at 5 pm.
Sources said the entire GOA executive committee is also set to be elected unopposed.

Tanavade has been nominated for the president's post by the Goa Judo Association.
The four vice-president posts have been filled by Caitano Fernandes of the Goa Football Association, Sandhya Paliekar of the Modern Pentathlon Association of Goa, Sudesh Thakur of the Goa Gymnastics Association and Bhageshri Padloskar of the Rifle Shooting Association, Goa.
Sandeep Heble of the Goa Basketball Association is the lone candidate for secretary general, while Jayesh Naik of the Goa Weightlifting Association has been nominated for treasurer.
Manoj Patil of the Goa Badminton Association is set to become joint secretary.
Five candidates have filed nominations for the executive member posts. They are Rukmini Kamat of the Goa Kabaddi Association, Navin Pai Raikar of the Taekwondo Association of Goa, Abhay Bhamaikar of Goans Hockey, Viplava Bhakta of the Equestrian and Polo Association of Goa and Akhil Parrikar of the Goa Athletics Association.
With only one candidate for each post, the new GOA office-bearers are expected to be formally declared elected unopposed after the completion of the scrutiny process and announcement of the final list.
