Mangaluru, Aug 15: Marking the spirit of Independence Day with a strong message of environmental responsibility, the Nature Club and NSS unit of St Agnes College (Autonomous), organised a plantation drive titled ‘Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Paudha’ at Agno Woods.

The programme was attended by principal Sr Dr M Venissa AC, NSS officer Dr Udhay Kumar, and Nature Club coordinator Dr Soniya Lobo. As part of the drive, plant saplings were distributed among the students, who participated enthusiastically in the plantation activity at Agno Woods.

Students took an active role in planting the saplings and demonstrated their commitment towards preserving nature. The activity also provided them with an opportunity to understand that planting a tree is not merely an activity but a long-term responsibility that requires care and nurturing.

The drive aimed to combine the spirit of patriotism with environmental stewardship, encouraging students to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future. The initiative reflected the college’s continued commitment to environmental awareness and student participation in community-oriented activities.

The programme was held with the objective of encouraging students to celebrate the spirit of freedom by taking responsibility for protecting and nurturing the environment. The initiative highlighted the message that patriotism is not limited to displaying the national flag but also involves contributing towards a cleaner, greener and healthier nation.
