Mangaluru, Aug 15: Carmel Central School, Kotekar, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on August 15 with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and a deep sense of national pride. The celebration brought together the entire school community, including the little ones of the kindergarten section, in a spirit of unity, patriotism and love for the nation.
The morning programme commenced with the ceremonial arrival of the chief guest, Prakash Kumpala, social worker and politician, who was escorted to the flag-hoisting venue with due honour by the school band. The flag-hoisting ceremony was conducted by the chief guest, followed by the national anthem, creating a solemn and proud moment for the entire school community. The unfurling of the national flag beautifully symbolised the freedom, unity and aspirations of our nation.
Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, the dignitaries were escorted to the venue for the cultural programme. The programme began with a graceful welcome dance and a warm welcome speech. An inspiring presentation on 'Values That Build Our Nation' highlighted the importance of honesty, discipline, unity, compassion and responsible citizenship in building a strong and progressive nation.
The celebration also featured delightful performances by the Kindergarten section. The nursery, LKG and UKG students presented a colourful and joyful programme that added innocence, enthusiasm and charm to the celebration. The programme included a prayer service by the UKG students, seeking God’s blessings for the nation and the school community, followed by a graceful welcome dance by the LKG students.
The significance of Independence Day was highlighted through a meaningful presentation, reminding the young learners about freedom, unity, responsibility and love for the motherland. The Nursery students presented an energetic action song, while the UKG students showcased an impressive drill display that demonstrated discipline, coordination and teamwork. Vibrant patriotic dances by the LKG and UKG students beautifully reflected their love for the nation and were warmly appreciated by everyone present.
The students of the school presented the mime 'Incredible India – Glimpses of Our Nation', portraying the rich cultural heritage, diversity and achievements of India. This was followed by a vibrant Patriotic Dance and an inspiring Group Song, which filled the atmosphere with national pride and patriotic fervour.
The celebration was graced by principal Sr Pramila D’Souza AC, vice principal Sr Anitha AC, joint secretary Sr Maria Ujwala AC, Sr Maria Sheethal AC, headmistress of Stella Maris Kannada Primary School, Sudhir, PTA vice president, Vikshitha, PTA coordinator, and Jayanth Kondana, PTA member and president of Thiya Samaja. Their esteemed presence added significance and grandeur to the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Prakash Kumpala shared an inspiring message on patriotism, responsible citizenship, unity and the importance of contributing positively to society. He encouraged the students to become disciplined, compassionate and responsible citizens who would contribute meaningfully to the progress of the nation.
The programme also witnessed the distribution of certificates to students who won the prizes in various competitions held in honour of Independence. The celebration concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, school management, dignitaries, teachers, parents, students and all those who contributed to the successful celebration.
The Independence Day celebration was a beautiful blend of youthful enthusiasm, patriotic expression and meaningful reflection. From the delightful performances of the little ones to the solemn flag-hoisting ceremony and inspiring cultural presentations, every moment reflected the values of unity, discipline, responsibility, peace and love for our nation.
