Mangaluru: MCC commssioner orders strict action to improve city cleanliness

Mangaluru, Aug 15: As part of efforts to maintain cleanliness in the city, Mangaluru City Corporation commissioner Rahul Rathnam Pandey on Friday inspected black spots where waste is dumped, waste management systems, construction waste and disposal arrangements in various parts of the city.

He visited Shivaram Karanth Road, K S Rao Road, Lady Goschen, Central Market and other major areas. Health department officials briefed the commissioner about the waste management system. He also discussed and gathered information from sanitation workers about street-cleaning methods and other cleanliness-related aspects.

Meanwhile, the commissioner directed officials to ensure the installation of dustbins in commercial areas, including hotels, shops and other business establishments; clear construction waste; remove temporary structures on footpaths; install CCTV cameras to help eliminate black spots; and issue notices to street food vendors who dump waste on roads.

    Dear Commissioner Thanks for your initials. Requesting you kindly to visit the kottara chowkhi once ( particularly below the flyover). Everywhere it's garbage bin!!! Kottara chowkhi is like Entry Gate to Mangalore & Worst maintenance by the corporation. I hope you might have seen the cleaniness below Kulur & Surathkal flyovers. Can't it be implemented on kottara chowkhi too? Rather than free parking of vehicles, implement PAY & PARK and PLEASE KEEP THE AREA NEAT & CLEAN. I hope you will look into this matter. Thank youn

    Just like Bombay has a Tukaram Mundhe - the IAS officer leading Maharashtra’s FDA crackdown in the spotlight for food and drug adulteration, so too there should be a no nonsense zero tolerant Karnataka Commissioner to use his veto power to curb hanky panky illegal activities to make Mangalore a city in a class of its own before it is doomed.

    MCC should seriously consider to allot stalls to the street vendors outside hampankatte. Roads adjacent to the clock tower/nehru maidan/lady goshen hospital are occupied fully occupied by the street vendors coming from outside dakshina Kannada. Pediatricians cannot walk at all...plus so many drunkards walking/falling/sleeping wherever they want and causing harrassment to the ladies... sometimes touching inappropriately, following, making vulgar signs etc during the day. Once it's dark, problems become worse. Because of this, ppl are forced to walk on the busy roads including elderly people/sick. Safety is zero. Vehicles too find it difficult to move smoothly.. Braking continuously and horrible honking alerting the pedestrias... causing troubles for the passengers travelling in them.. Also, I heard that Ladyhill is going through the same situation/mangala stadium. Safety is zero.

    India is very mysterious country even Britishers had lot of challenges to put india on right track for all round development. In India there are so many languages, religions, rituals, superstitions, cultures, traditions and beliefs that it is very difficult to unite and integrate and make everybody to move one direction. The challenges we see now are the result of all these social, religious and personal,issues.

    Ladyhill footpath has become a food Street. From the bus stand right upto Sai Baba Temple there are street vendors. On all days from 4pm it it so difficult to walk. Chat , chicken, tender coconuts, flower vendors everywhere specially on Thursdays ,, vegetables and fruits vendors and what not. Apart from all this , the interlocks have come out causing so much of difficulty to pedestrians walking and the residents to move their vehicles. MCC first take care of all this. Then only the city will be clean and after that you can call it Smart City.

    Sir, please vacate footpath at statebank and Maidan Road. There is a black spot at the approach Road leading to Chelairu near Mukka Checkpost.

    All along the sides of the Highway from Polytechnic to AJ Hospital, some unscrupulous persons with no civic sense throw commercial waste atthe sides. They probably do this at night or early morning hours . Is there any way they can be tracked and penalized?
