Mangaluru: MCC commssioner orders strict action to improve city cleanliness

Mangaluru, Aug 15: As part of efforts to maintain cleanliness in the city, Mangaluru City Corporation commissioner Rahul Rathnam Pandey on Friday inspected black spots where waste is dumped, waste management systems, construction waste and disposal arrangements in various parts of the city.

He visited Shivaram Karanth Road, K S Rao Road, Lady Goschen, Central Market and other major areas. Health department officials briefed the commissioner about the waste management system. He also discussed and gathered information from sanitation workers about street-cleaning methods and other cleanliness-related aspects.

Meanwhile, the commissioner directed officials to ensure the installation of dustbins in commercial areas, including hotels, shops and other business establishments; clear construction waste; remove temporary structures on footpaths; install CCTV cameras to help eliminate black spots; and issue notices to street food vendors who dump waste on roads.
