Kasargod: Women sanitation workers return cash, gold found in waste

Kasargod, Aug 14: Green Action Force workers Kamala N and Mamatha of wards 10 and 11 of Pallikkara gram panchayat have displayed honesty by handing over two sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 30,000 in cash found while segregating plastic waste to its rightful owner.

The gold and cash were found while segregating plastic waste collected from the house of Krishnan, a resident of Poinachi Paramban. Krishnan’s wife Janaki had passed away recently, and some belongings, including a comb, had been kept in a bag she used.

When the Green Action Force workers Kamala and Mamatha arrived to collect waste, the family members handed them the bag containing the waste. While segregating the plastic waste, the women found the cash and gold and immediately handed them over to Krishnan at the spot.

Krishnan’s family expressed gratitude to the workers for their honesty.
