Mangaluru, Aug 12: The Mangaluru City Police Commissioner, in a release, said police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Maharashtra in connection with a house burglary in Jeppimogaru, within the jurisdiction of Kankanady Town police station.
The burglary took place on August 4 when the occupants were away. According to the police, unidentified thieves broke open the lock fitted to the house door using a weapon or other instrument, entered the house and stole valuables kept in a cupboard.
The stolen property included a 14-gram gold chain, two rings weighing 2 grams each, and Rs 25,000 in cash.
A case was registered at Kankanady Town police station as Crime No. 106/2026 under Sections 305(a) and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
A special team was formed to investigate the case. Acting on credible information that the suspect was near the bus stand at Talapady on August 11, the team took him into custody.
The accused has been identified as Samadhan Sakhari Narale, 26, son of Sahakari Narale, a resident of Naralewadi village, Sanmadi Post, Jath taluk, Sangli district, Maharashtra.
Police said the stolen property, along with articles allegedly used to commit the offence, was recovered from the accused.
The accused was subsequently produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
