Bantwal, Aug 11: A major tragedy was narrowly averted after a private school bus carrying more than 15 students crashed into an electricity pole at Kuntukudelu near Pooralappady in Vitla Padur village on Tuesday, August 11.
The bus, belonging to a private school, was ferrying the students to school when the accident occurred. As the vehicle reached Kuntukudelu, it reportedly developed a sudden technical fault while negotiating a downhill stretch of road.
The driver subsequently lost control of the bus, which veered off the road and crashed into an electricity pole standing by the roadside.

The impact was severe, snapping the electricity pole, which came crashing down on top of the bus. Despite the frightening turn of events, all the more than 15 schoolchildren travelling in the vehicle escaped unhurt and were completely safe.
The front portion of the bus was damaged in the accident.
Soon after the incident, local residents rushed to the spot and safely brought the children out of the bus.
Fortunately, despite the bus crashing into the electricity pole and the pole falling directly onto the vehicle, no injuries or casualties were reported, averting what could have been a major tragedy.
