Mangaluru, Jul 29: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, celebrated Grandparents Day with immense love, warmth, and joy on Tuesday, July 28, in the school auditorium.
The occasion was graced by the esteemed chief guests, Emmanuel Vaz and Juliana Vaz, along with the grandparents of the children. The nursery, LKG, and UKG children hosted the programme, delighting the grandparents with their charming performances and heartfelt expressions of love.
The grandparents were warmly received at the entrance by the children, who welcomed them with hand-coloured greeting cards lovingly prepared by themselves, heartfelt messages, and radiant smiles. The chief guests were escorted to the auditorium by the principal, Sr Melissa AC, administrator, Sr Carissima A.C, and kindergarten coordinator, Tr Sandra Lobo.
The celebration commenced with a solemn prayer, followed by a graceful prayer dance by the LKG children. As the programme unfolded, the children joyfully recited: "Grandparents are rare, grandparents are dear, Grandparents are treasured, glad you are here!"
The heartfelt recitation, followed by a multilingual welcome delivered by Mitchelle, Leon, Samanvi, Chirush, Eva, Aykya, and Akshith, created a warm and affectionate atmosphere. The UKG students then enthralled the audience with a vibrant welcome dance.
The LKG children delighted everyone with lively action songs, an enchanting Moon Dance that illuminated the stage with its charm, and an energetic celebration dance that filled the auditorium with joy and enthusiasm.
One of the most touching moments of the celebration was a heartwarming skit presented by the UKG children, portraying the unconditional love, wisdom, guidance and countless sacrifices of grandparents. Adding to the emotional appeal, the Nursery children performed delightful dances in between the skit, dedicated to Grandpa and Grandma.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Emmanuel Vaz applauded the children's exceptional talents and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the teachers in organising such a meaningful celebration. He reminded everyone that grandparents are the roots of every family, preserving its values, traditions, and cherished legacy. Principal Sr Melissa expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the grandparents for their love, blessings, support and invaluable role in nurturing and shaping the lives of their grandchildren.
Yatharv, Yuvan, Angel, and Miara proposed the vote of thanks, while Vibha, Samaira, Aniketh, and Ayra compered the programme with confidence and grace.
The celebration concluded with fun-filled games conducted by Tr Neetha, in which the grandparents participated with great enthusiasm, creating memorable moments of laughter, bonding, and togetherness. Refreshments were served during the programme, providing an opportunity for everyone to relax and interact.
A few grandparents also came forward to share their heartfelt experiences and expressed their sincere appreciation to the organisers and teachers for arranging such a thoughtful and memorable celebration. The grandparents then enjoyed a lively Baila dance, celebrating the occasion with great enthusiasm and proving that age is no barrier to joy and celebration.
The programme concluded on a joyful note with everyone leaving with happy hearts and smiling faces, carrying cherished memories of a celebration that beautifully honoured the love, wisdom, and invaluable presence of grandparents in the lives of their grandchildren.
