Bantwal, Jul 25: A theft of antique puja articles has been reported at the Sri Adishakti Ambika Annapoorneshwari Temple in Modankap, Bantwal taluk, after miscreants broke open the lock of the temple's main entrance.
According to the complaint, the thieves illegally entered the temple and stole several articles used for worship, including silver items, one offering bowl, 10 traditional oil lamps, 10 brass water pots, five brass serving trays, one copper vessel, two copper water pots, one copper cooking vessel, and some steel utensils. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at around Rs 57,000.

CCTV footage installed at the temple captured three accused carrying the stolen articles in a gunny sack while leaving the premises.
Based on a complaint lodged by Sunil Kumar K N, a case has been registered at the Bantwal Town police station. Police have launched an investigation into the theft.
