Bengaluru, Jul 24: In a move aimed at ensuring uninterrupted and timely ration distribution, the Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Department has directed all government-run fair price shops across the state to remain open from 6 am to 10 pm every day.
The directive comes after the department received complaints that beneficiaries were facing delays in receiving their entitled ration despite adequate supplies already reaching fair price shops.

The department said that July month's ration stock has already been supplied to most fair price shops across Karnataka. With the deadline for completing distribution to all beneficiaries set before the end of the month, officials have instructed all shops to strictly follow the extended working hours.
The department's additional director has issued a communication to all joint directors and deputy directors, directing them to ensure that the order is implemented without fail.
Officials have also been instructed to take action, as per rules, against fair price shop dealers who violate the directive or fail to keep their outlets open during the prescribed hours.
The department said the move is aimed at preventing inconvenience to beneficiaries and ensuring that eligible citizens receive their ration supplies within the stipulated period.
