St Agnes CBSE School celebrates Vanamahotsava 2026 with a Clarion Call to ‘Grow Trees, Grow Life’

Mangaluru, Jul 7: The campus of St Agnes CBSE School came alive with green enthusiasm as the school celebrated Vanamahotsava with the inspiring theme, “Grow Trees, Grow Life” on July 4. The celebration aimed to foster environmental awareness and inspire students to become responsible custodians of nature.

The programme commenced with a serene prayer service by the students of grades III B and V A, followed by a graceful welcome dance depicting the harmony between humanity and nature. Aaradhya of grade V A delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting the gathering and introducing the chief guest, Santhosh Rai K, range forest officer, forest mobile squad, Mangalore.

As a symbol of respect and environmental commitment, the principal presented him with a potted plant. Crisel Lasrado then highlighted the importance of Vanamahotsava and the shared responsibility of protecting the environment.

The celebration featured a melodious group song, a thought-provoking skit on the consequences of deforestation, and a vibrant dance performance by the students of grade III, all conveying the importance of conserving nature. The occasion also witnessed the recognition of the school’s achievers in the SilverZone Olympiad Examination conducted by the SilverZone Foundation, New Delhi.Certificates were presented by the chief guest, while principal Sr Jennifer Moras AC gladly honoured them with the medals and certificates.

In his inspiring address, Santhosh Rai K observed that although the monsoon may sometimes bring hardship, it also transforms the Earth into a lush green paradise. He encouraged every student to plant and nurture a sapling, emphasizing that trees provide life and shelter to humans, birds, butterflies, and other living creatures. Through two inspiring real-life stories, he motivated students to become responsible environmental stewards and work towards a pollution-free future.

Addressing the gathering, principal Sr Jennifer Moras AC highlighting the importance of celebrating Vanamahotsava and launched a unique green initiative. She encouraged every student to plant a sapling at home with their parents, submit a photograph through the school’s official email, and send another photograph of the same plant after six months to document its growth. She further assured that attractive prizes will be given to the top three entries.

A defining moment of the celebration was the symbolic sapling plantation led by the chief guest, the principal, teachers, and student representatives, reaffirming the school’s commitment to a greener future. The programme concluded with a solemn pledge to protect the environment, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Atharv of grade III B. The event was gracefully compered by Manishka Suvarna of grade V A and Fahima Rehal of grade III B.

The Vanamahotsava celebration served as a powerful reminder that every sapling planted today is a promise of hope for tomorrow. Through this meaningful initiative, St Agnes CBSE School reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious citizens dedicated to building a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future.
