Mangaluru, Jul 4: The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy organised the 'Kavyam Vhalo-16' poetry meet at the Academy Hall on Saturday July 4.
Academy president Joachim Stany Alvares presided over the programme. In his introductory address, he welcomed all those present.
The chief guest, Gokul Das Nayak, joint director, department of Industries and Commerce, Mangaluru, said that the saying ‘Ravi Kanadannu, Kavi Kanda’ (What the sun cannot see, the poet can) aptly reflects the extraordinary vision of a poet, whose perspective extends beyond even the depths of the ocean. He said the quote serves as an excellent example of the importance of poets and poetry. Literature on any subject reflects the writer's remarkable vision, he observed.

















Nayak also appreciated the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy for recognising senior and junior poets, writers, and literary personalities, including many whose contributions often go unnoticed, and congratulated the academy's president and members for their efforts.
On the occasion, veteran Konkani brass band artiste Melvin D'Souza was felicitated for his contribution to the field.
Renowned poet Dr Dimple Jennifer Fernandes conducted the poetry session and gave a detailed introduction to the participating poets and their works.
Poems were recited by Eddy Kaddos Takode, Jayashree Shenoy, Ramachandra Pai, Jenelia D'Almeida, Gracian Paladka, Sonia D'Costa, Raghavendra Prabhu Karvalu, Juliet Fernandes, Raymond D'Cunha Takode, Alani D'Souza, William Madtha Allipade, and Ajay D'Souza.
Academy member Sapna May Crasta compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks. academy members Ronald Crasta and Naveen Lobo were also present.
