Mangaluru, Jul 4: Stressing that cleanliness begins with every individual, Mandar V Kale, general manager of the CSR department at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), said a clean village, state and nation can be achieved only through collective responsibility and personal commitment.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a cleanliness rally and street play organised by MRPL in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Govindadas Pre-University College, Surathkal, as part of the company's 15-day Swachhta Pakhwada campaign.





Kale said that while people are aware of the importance of cleanliness, negligence and irresponsible behaviour continue to harm the environment. Emphasising the message 'Our Waste, Our Responsibility', he urged citizens to adopt responsible waste disposal practices, adding that a clean environment is essential for ensuring good public health.
As part of the programme, NSS volunteers of the college conducted a cleanliness rally from the college campus to Surathkal Junction. They also staged a street play to create awareness among the public about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment.
CSR Officer Keshav Patali of MRPL, college principal Lakshmi, Surathkal Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedike president Raj Mohan Rao, secretary Satish Sadanand, NSS programme officer Venkataramana, and others were present on the occasion.
