Kuwait City, Jun 25: The United States Embassy in Kuwait resumed operations on Wednesday, months after services were suspended following Iranian attacks in March, coinciding with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's visit to the Gulf nation.

The embassy, located in Kuwait City, has immediately restarted emergency services for American citizens, while other consular services will be restored in phases, according to a US State Department spokesperson.

Rubio participated in a flag-raising ceremony at the embassy during his visit to Kuwait, where he is holding talks with regional allies on efforts to stabilise the region following the recent conflict involving Iran.

In a social media post after the ceremony, Rubio described the reopening as a symbol of renewed partnership and resilience.

"The American flag, a symbol of liberty, unity and freedom, now flies proudly once again over Kuwait City. Kuwait is an indispensable partner for regional security and stability," he said.
The reopening of the embassy marks a significant step in restoring normal diplomatic operations after months of disruption caused by regional tensions and security concerns.

Rubio's visit forms part of a broader diplomatic engagement with Gulf allies as Washington seeks to consolidate support for ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining stability and preventing further escalation in the region.
