Beltangady, Jun 25: Chandrashekhar, a pharmacy officer at the government hospital in Beltangady, has been suspended following allegations of sexual harassment made by a female outsourced employee.
According to reports, a complaint was lodged on June 11 alleging that Chandrashekhar had been sexually harassing a woman employee who was working at the Beltangady taluk hospital.
Following the complaint, the Internal Complaints Committee convened a meeting and recommended that disciplinary action be initiated against pharmacy officer Chandrashekhar under the relevant legal provisions. After examining the documents submitted in the case, including the FIR and written statements of witnesses, the authorities also took serious note of the complainant’s failure to appear for the inquiry.

Upon reviewing the available records, the authorities concluded that the allegations against Chandrashekhar were prima facie established. It was found that his conduct amounted to a violation of Rules 3(1), 3(2), and 3(3) of the KCS Conduct Rules, 2021, and that he had behaved in a manner unbecoming of a government servant. Consequently, it was decided to place him under suspension pending departmental inquiry into the charges.
Dr Rajani M, director of Health and Family Welfare Services, has ordered Chandrashekhar’s immediate suspension from government service on charges of misconduct, dereliction of duty, and negligence. The suspension order further states that he shall not leave the headquarters during the suspension period without obtaining prior permission from the competent authority.
