Doha: Bunts Qatar celebrates World Environment Day 2026

Doha, Jun 23: Bunts Qatar proudly celebrated World Environment Day 2026 on June 19 at the M/s Jas Bro Corporation Office premises, Doha, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability and supporting the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The programme commenced with an inspiring introduction by Naveen Shetty, general secretary, followed by the welcome address delivered by Sukaram Shetty, president of Bunts Qatar, who highlighted the importance of collective efforts in preserving the environment.

The event was graced by Surekha Narayan Hegde, wife of Narayan Hegde, managing director of Intermodel Service Co WLL, Doha, as the guest of honour. She was felicitated with a token of appreciation in recognition of her presence and generous sponsorship of the event.

Rajagopal Shetty, environment coordinator, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of environmental awareness and collective responsibility in combating climate change.

Children added colour to the celebration with delightful dance performances, beautifully coordinated and arranged by Vijetha Rai and Pooja Shenava. Gifts were distributed to members and families in appreciation of their active participation.

The best out of waste competition was evaluated by senior member Ravi Kumar Rai and family, along with Surekha Narayan Hegde. Winners were honoured with prizes presented by Naveen Shetty Iruvail, advisory chairman.

A symbolic sapling plantation drive was carried out by the dignitaries and management committee members, reflecting a shared commitment towards a greener and more sustainable future.

A special audio message from founder president Dr Ravi Shetty inspired members with his vision and commitment towards community service and environmental protection. Best wishes from advisory members Navaneeth Shetty, Deepak Shetty (ICBF president), and Dr Padma Shree Shetty further strengthened the spirit of unity and environmental consciousness.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Shiny Shetty, sports secretary, who thanked the guests, sponsors, participants and members for making the celebration a grand success and invited everyone for refreshments.

The event once again demonstrated Bunts Qatar’s dedication to climate action and sustainable practices while reinforcing its commitment to supporting the environmental goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
