Dubai, Jun 9: Several Indian nationals lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Dubai after a minibus carrying workers collided with a stationary truck, authorities and Indian diplomatic officials confirmed.

Expressing grief over the incident, the Consulate General of India in Dubai said it was deeply saddened by the loss of lives and extended condolences to the families of the victims.

In a statement posted on social media, the Consulate said its officials had visited the hospital where the injured were being treated and were coordinating closely with local authorities to provide necessary assistance and support to those affected.

“Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with the bereaved families during this difficult time,” the mission said.

According to Dubai Police, the accident claimed seven lives and left nine others injured. Preliminary findings suggest that the truck had come to an unexpected halt in the middle of the road after suffering a technical fault.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said the minibus driver allegedly failed to maintain a safe distance and did not react in time, resulting in a rear-end collision with the stranded vehicle.

The impact proved fatal, killing seven passengers and injuring nine others. Among the injured, five sustained serious injuries while four suffered moderate wounds. All were immediately transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the crash. Specialists from the Traffic Accident Investigation Section were deployed to the scene to collect evidence and determine the precise circumstances that led to the collision.

Emergency responders and traffic patrol teams secured the area, assisted rescue operations, managed traffic movement and cleared the damaged vehicles from the roadway to restore normal traffic flow.

Following the incident, Dubai Police renewed warnings about the dangers of vehicles stopping on active roadways due to mechanical failures, fuel shortages or tyre-related issues. Officials urged motorists to conduct proper vehicle inspections before travel and to follow road safety guidelines to help prevent similar tragedies.
