Mumbai, Jun 10: Police have launched a search for a young man after registering a case of kidnapping and grievous assault for allegedly attacking a 16-year-old girl with a stone in Mumbai's Amboli area.
The victim has been admitted to hospital with severe injuries to her face and jaw, leaving her unable to speak properly. She is also undergoing treatment for multiple other injuries sustained in the attack.
According to police, the girl had been living with her aunt, uncle and cousins in Jogeshwari after losing her parents at a young age. She had informed her relatives that she was in a relationship with a man identified as Vijay.

In November 2025, Vijay allegedly took the minor to Surat. Two days later, she contacted her aunt and disclosed her whereabouts. She also told her aunt that she had borrowed a pair of earrings and would return them upon her return to Mumbai.
The girl's aunt next met her in April 2026 when the teenager visited her and said that Vijay had brought her back to Mumbai. She reportedly told her relatives that the two were living together but did not have a permanent residence as Vijay's family had not accepted their relationship.
The victim also informed her aunt that Vijay frequently harassed and assaulted her over suspicions regarding her fidelity.
On June 10, the aunt received a call from police informing her that the girl had been admitted to a trauma care hospital in Jogeshwari. Due to her jaw injuries, the victim was unable to speak clearly but reportedly told her aunt that Vijay had attacked her with a stone.
Further inquiries revealed that on June 8, the accused allegedly assaulted the girl at Mhatarpada in Amboli, striking her repeatedly on the face, forehead and lips with a stone before kicking and beating her.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim's aunt, Amboli Police registered an FIR against Vijay on charges of kidnapping and grievous assault. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused.
