No reshoots planned for Yash's Toxic, says producer

Bengaluru, Jun 9: Speculation surrounding extensive reshoots for Kannada star Yash's upcoming film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has been dismissed by the production team, which clarified that no reshoot schedule has been planned for the much-anticipated project.

Rumours had recently circulated that Yash was dissatisfied with certain portions of the film directed by Geetu Mohandas and that a massive 100-day reshoot, reportedly costing around Rs 40 crore, had been scheduled.

However, a spokesperson for KVN Productions denied the reports, stating that no reshoots are being undertaken and putting an end to the speculation.

Industry observers attribute the rumours to multiple changes in the film's release schedule. In December 2025, the makers announced March 19 as the release date, setting up a box-office clash with Dhurandhar 2 starring Ranveer Singh.

However, following geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, the producers announced on March 4 that the release would be postponed to June 4. The decision was reportedly taken because the film would have been unable to secure a release in several Middle Eastern markets, potentially affecting revenue.

The postponement gave Dhurandhar 2 a solo release window, and the film reportedly went on to become a major box-office success.

Subsequently, on April 29, Yash announced that Toxic would not arrive on June 4 either. Sharing the update on social media, he said the strong international response following the film's presentation at CinemaCon reinforced the team's belief that the project deserved a larger global release strategy.

The makers have not yet announced a new release date.

Toxic marks Yash's first film since the blockbuster K.G.F: Chapter 2 and is among the most anticipated Indian films currently in production. Apart from playing the lead role, Yash is also credited as a writer and producer, reflecting his significant creative involvement in the project.

The teaser, released on January 8 to coincide with Yash's 40th birthday, generated considerable buzz among fans. Viewers praised his transformation into the character Raya, noting the departure from his iconic Rocky Bhai persona while retaining his trademark screen presence.

The film's Hollywood-style visuals, dark gangster setting and lavish production values received widespread appreciation on social media. Reports suggest the film has been shot in both English and Kannada, with a view to expanding its appeal in international markets, particularly the United States.

Produced on a reported budget of around Rs 500 crore, Toxic is among the costliest Indian films ever made. The cast includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.

The film will be released in six languages, with music and background score composed by Ravi Basrur.
