Panaji, Jun 4: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity in the state, saying the incidence of these lifestyle-related ailments is higher than the national average.

Addressing an event, Sawant urged people to adopt healthier lifestyles and take preventive measures to safeguard their health.

“Diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity cases in Goa are higher than the national average. People should reduce sugar and oil intake, avoid outside food and soft drinks, and exercise regularly,” he said.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of balanced diets, regular physical activity and healthy daily habits in preventing non-communicable diseases that are becoming increasingly common across the state.

He also appealed to citizens to work collectively towards building a healthier and fitter Goa by making conscious lifestyle changes and prioritising their well-being.

Sawant said public awareness and individual responsibility would play a crucial role in tackling the growing burden of lifestyle diseases and improving overall health outcomes in the state.
