Woman killed in car explosion on Israel's Ayalon Highway

Tel Aviv, Jun 4: A 35-year-old woman was killed in a car explosion on the Ayalon Highway near the Holon Junction in Israel on Thursday morning, police said.

The Israel Police confirmed that the incident is being treated as a criminal matter and said an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosion.

Authorities have not yet officially identified the victim.

No other injuries were reported in the incident.

Emergency responders and firefighting teams rushed to the scene after the vehicle caught fire following the explosion.

According to United Hatzalah medics, firefighters worked to extinguish the flames that engulfed the vehicle.

“Firefighting crews operated at the scene to extinguish the flames after a vehicle caught fire,” emergency responders said.

Medics added that the driver suffered critical injuries and could not be saved.

“Unfortunately, due to the severe nature of the injuries sustained by the driver, we had no choice but to wait for authorities to pronounce her death at the scene,” they said.

Police have begun an investigation and are examining the circumstances that led to the explosion. Further details are awaited.
