Beltangady, Jun 3: Pre-University education is a defining phase in a student's academic journey, and young learners must dream ambitiously about their future and work diligently to transform those aspirations into reality, said Sonia Yashovarma.
She was addressing students after inaugurating the orientation and welcome programme for those admitted to the first year of the pre-university course (PUC) at SDM Residential Pre-University College, Ujire, on Wednesday.

Encouraging the newly admitted students to make the most of the opportunities before them, Sonia Yashovarma said that discipline, punctuality and sustained hard work were essential ingredients for academic excellence. She noted that students could secure outstanding results and build a strong foundation for their future through dedicated study and perseverance, and conveyed her best wishes for their success.
Speaking on the occasion, Puran Varma, CEO of the IT and Hostel Administration Division of SDM Educational Institutions, highlighted the role of residential education in shaping character and values.
“Hostels provide not only education but also life education and good values. Students should develop a sense of responsibility and cultivate gratitude,” he advised.
The programme was presided over by Principal Sunil Pandit. Lecturer Vani welcomed the gathering, while Kavitha proposed the vote of thanks.
