Kuwait City, Jun 3: Kuwait has temporarily suspended air traffic after Iranian drones struck Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport, causing significant structural damage and injuring several people, according to Kuwaiti authorities.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defence said multiple hostile drones targeted the airport's main passenger terminal in what it described as an act of Iranian aggression. Defence Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi stated that those injured received immediate medical treatment and that the armed forces remain on high alert in coordination with relevant agencies.

Following the attack, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation activated emergency protocols, halted flight operations and diverted aircraft to alternative airports while authorities assessed the extent of the damage. Officials said the suspension would remain in place until safety inspections and necessary repairs are completed.
The strike marks a fresh escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States, coming shortly after both sides exchanged missile strikes in the Gulf region. The latest violence has raised concerns about the stability of a ceasefire reached in April following weeks of conflict.
Reports indicate that the airport attack caused extensive damage to Terminal 1 and disrupted civilian aviation services across Kuwait. Several international carriers have begun adjusting schedules and issuing travel advisories as the security situation remains fluid.
Kuwaiti authorities said security and emergency response teams are continuing to monitor developments closely and have pledged to take all necessary measures to safeguard the country's security and maintain operational stability.
