Panaji, Jun 2: Chief minister Pramod Sawant's second visit to New Delhi within a week has triggered fresh speculation about a possible cabinet reshuffle in Goa, even as he focused on discussions with the Centre regarding the state's development, environmental priorities and water security.
On the first day of his two-day visit, Sawant met Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav. According to an official statement, the meeting centered on sustainable development initiatives and strategies to promote green growth in Goa. The Chief Minister's Office released a photograph of the meeting along with a brief note but did not disclose further details.

Political circles, however, have been abuzz over the timing of Sawant's repeated visits to the national capital. Sources indicated that the Chief Minister is likely to hold discussions with officials of the Election Commission of India on Tuesday, with deliberations expected to include the filling of a vacant cabinet berth and the long-pending issue of Scheduled Tribe reservation in the Goa Legislative Assembly.
According to sources, the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle involving two sitting ministers is also being discussed, although no official confirmation has been issued. Political observers believe that any reorganisation of the ministry could be aimed at strengthening the ruling party's position ahead of the next electoral cycle. Sources suggested that new faces may be inducted if changes are eventually carried out.
The Chief Minister is also expected to meet other Union ministers during his stay in Delhi to advance Goa's demand for Scheduled Tribe reservation before the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, Goa BJP president Damu Naik participated in an all-India meeting of state BJP presidents in the national capital, adding to the significance of the party's engagements in Delhi.
Apart from political matters, Sawant also held discussions with Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil on issues related to irrigation, water distribution and long-term water security in Goa.
Following the meeting, Sawant said both leaders explored measures to enhance water-use efficiency, encourage sustainable management of water resources and secure greater central support for the state's agriculture and rural development sectors.
While the official agenda of the visit remains focused on governance and development, the Chief Minister's engagements in Delhi continue to fuel speculation over possible political developments within the Goa cabinet in the coming days.
