Mangaluru, Jun 2: The school reopening ceremony for the academic year 2026–27 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model Kannada and English Medium Higher Primary School, Thiruvail, Vamanjoor.
The number of student admissions to the school has increased significantly this academic year, and hundreds of parents accompanied their children on the very first day of school. Students gathered on the school playground were warmly welcomed with flower showers and gifts by the teachers, School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC), Alumni Association, and office-bearers of Vidyabodhini Education Trust (R).





With the growing student strength, the school was facing a shortage of chairs and benches. Recognising this need, Vidyabodhini Education Trust and retired physical education teacher Gopal U submitted a request to the Mangaluru Sound and Light Owners’ Association. Responding to the appeal, the Vamanjoor Zone of the association donated new chairs and benches worth approximately RS 1 lac to the school.
Speaking after receiving a felicitation from the school, Association President Chandrahasa said, “Our association has been providing free notebooks to schools for many years. Based on the special request from Thiruvail School, our Vamanjoor Zone has provided chairs and benches worth Rs 1 lac. Every member of the association has contributed to this social initiative aimed at supporting children's education.”
The school also introduced a new policy from this academic year, making uniforms compulsory for both teaching and non-teaching staff. The prescribed uniform consists of a black jacket worn over a saree.
The programme was attended by headmaster Ningaraju KP, former Corporator of Thiruvail Ward Hemalatha R Salian, SDMC president Rakesh Shetty, Vidyabodhini Education Trust President Raghu Salian, retired physical education teacher Gopal U, members of the Sound and Light Owners’ Association, alumni members, teachers, staff, parents, and well-wishers of the school.
