Los Angeles, May 31: Singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo says her latest album reflects a new creative chapter, one that challenges the notion that powerful music can only emerge from heartbreak and emotional turmoil.

Speaking on the Popcast podcast, Rodrigo revealed that she consciously set out to prove to herself that she could create songs she loved without relying on sadness or personal misery as inspiration.

The 23-year-old artist, who rose to global prominence with emotionally charged breakup anthems, said her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, represents a different perspective from her earlier work.

Rodrigo explained that much of the album follows the sequence of events as they unfolded in her life, making it the first project she feels has developed in a largely chronological manner.
