Dubai, May 30: The Karnataka Badminton Championship UAE-2026 season 1, a vibrant celebration of unity, friendship and sporting spirit among Kannadigas, concluded with resounding success in Dubai.
Organised by the Karnataka Badminton Friends Club UAE (KBFC-UAE) at Sports Bay Sports School in Abu Hail, the tournament marked a significant milestone in the sporting history of the Kannada community in the UAE.
What began as the dream of just six members has now grown into a strong 16-member committee. In its very first season, KBFC-UAE successfully organised a major sporting event that earned widespread appreciation from participants and spectators alike.
More than 350 players, including children, women and men, showcased their talent across 13 categories during the championship. The event also attracted over 600 spectators, who enthusiastically cheered for the participants throughout the tournament.
From beginners to experienced players, competitors displayed exceptional skills and sportsmanship. Thrilling matches, powerful smashes and entertaining moments kept the audience engaged and added to the excitement of the event.
The tournament was inaugurated by distinguished guests Deepak S P, Vishwanath Shetty, Sandeep Kotyan, Ashok Kundar and Rachana Kundar. Members of the association actively participated in the event and contributed to its success.
Winners and runners-up were honoured with attractive cash prizes, trophies, medals and certificates. Excellent hospitality and food arrangements were also provided for all participants and attendees.
The closing ceremony was attended by representatives of the title sponsor Pay10, along with guests Sarvotham Shetty, Deepak S P, Ashok Kundar, Sundar Shetty and Hameed Sathikar.
KBFC-UAE members Yogeesh, Vinuth, Ashok, Jeevan, Madhu, Adarsh, Joshua, Mithrakshi, Kress, Rachana, Alan, Supraj, Ajith and Vignesh worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth conduct and success of the event. The programme was efficiently compered by Joshua and Nikita.
Sponsors, guests, referees and all those who contributed to the success of the championship were honoured with mementoes. The organisers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported and attended the event.
Describing the tournament as more than just a sporting competition, the organisers said it was a grand festival celebrating the unity, friendship, sporting talent and cultural spirit of Kannadigas.
“The first season has concluded with tremendous success. The next season will be organised on an even bigger scale with more innovation and grandeur,” the organisers said.
