Shamita Shetty slams troll over comments on age and marriage

Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai

Mumbai, May 28: Actress Shamita Shetty strongly reacted to a social media troll who targeted her over her age and unmarried status at 47.

The actress took to Instagram Stories to expose the user by sharing screenshots of the comments and gave a sharp reply to the criticism.

One of the comments read, “Aapki age ho gayi hai pehle wali baat nahi rahi,” implying that she no longer looked the same due to age.

Responding to it, Shamita said ageing is a natural part of life and added that she was content with being healthy, fit and happy.

“Yes, I will look different. Things change with time — it’s the natural way of life. Nothing stays forever, including physical appearance,” she wrote.

She further said that she was grateful for all that life had given her and believed inner happiness mattered more than appearance.

In another comment, the troll questioned her for not getting married earlier and remarked that her children would have grown up by now had she married “on time”.

An upset Shamita hit back strongly, questioning the mentality behind such comments.

“Aapne shaadi karke kya ukhaad liya hai bhai?” she wrote, before criticising the user for imposing “patriarchal” and “male-centric” thinking on single women.

She also asked the troll to unfollow her immediately.

Shamita Shetty is known for her performances in films such as Mohabbatein, Zeher, Bewafaa and Cash. She has also appeared in reality shows including Bigg Boss 15, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 9 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8.

The actress was last seen in the web series The Tenant.
